Being one of the (many) who writes about affiliate marketing and making money online, I can tell you that;
One of the strangest things I’ve seen is people who want to start making money online, by telling people how to make money online without actually knowing how to make money online.
Yes – that’s the vast majority of people in the “make money online” niche.
Take a look at this screenshot right here:
In case you can’t be bothered to read it;
He’s basically asking if getting into the make money online niche is worth it, or not.
(This after he says he’s never made money online).
As someone who is in the make money online niche (and have been quite successful with it) let me share with you my thoughts on this niche and also;
Give you 5 reasons why you should NOT go into the make money online niche.
This is an insider-perspective here so listen closely.
Let’s start with the not-so-obvious obvious truth…
It’s Brutally Competitive
A fun fact about making money online is every niche can make money!
While yes, some are better than others;
With billions of people online, you’re bound to be found by someone who’s interested in what you have to say.
However, the “make money online” niche is brutally competitive and if you want to get into this niche;
You better prepare yourself to compete with the best experts in the world to get yourself found online.
If you think you have a chance at beating the top guys in a “quick and easy manner”, that is like saying you want to take up running today, and beat Usain Bolt in a race tomorrow.
It’s insanity and it’s just not worth it.
In most cases, the effort required is not worth the reward & I will tell you why next.
You’ll Make Money Much Quicker (In Another Niche)
I currently own and operate 16 affiliate websites in a variety of different niches.
Some are big money makers, some are growing, others are dead fish floating in the water.
With that said, I can also tell you that this website (the one you’re on right now) is my website in the “make money online” niche and YES;
This website earns the most money!
Considering how long I’ve been working on this website and how much effort it takes on a day-to-day basis to maintain it;
I’m pretty sure I could be making more money by focusing all my efforts and skills in other niches which are not the make money online niche.
Sadly, this is the only topic I enjoy writing about myself, which is why I do it.
I live, breath and dream affiliate marketing.
Unfortunately, I won’t be enjoying myself as much if I were to be working so much on other niches I own.
(Again; this is where having hired content writers come in handy).
The only reason I keep doing it; is because I genuinely love the topic.
If you don’t, you’re going to be very disappointed.
Which brings me to my next point.
It’s Boring (If You Don’t Like It)
This is an unspoken truth of the industry, but;
The make money online niche is boring AF.
There are algorithms involved, metrics, data, charts, and all that other BS.
If you don’t genuinely enjoy the business behind the make money online niche, you’re not going to enjoy working on it.
& If you don’t enjoy working on it (and it’s also super-competitive) you’d be better off in a different niche altogether.
Don’t be mesmerized by the “make money gurus” flaunting their rented Lamborghinis and private island; most of that is fake.
What goes on behind the scenes in the MMO (make money online) niche is mostly boring stuff for nerds like me who get a kick out of spending long nights analyzing the conversion rate of different blog posts compared to their word-length.
You Will Be Called “A Scammer”
This is sad but true.
If you’re going to go into the MMO niche, expect to be automatically assumed to be a scammer looking to make money from people who don’t have any money.
As I revealed in a previous newsletter email, I’ve been digging deep into some of these well-known gurus everyone knows about and as it turns out;
These guys are ripping people off left and right charging obscene amounts of money for sub-par content.
This, unfortunately, leaves many to believe that all “make money online” methods are scams and even the most legit of people out there end up being called scammers.
Rest assured the same will happen to you too.
For more about this, I highly recommend you check out some of CoffeeZilla’s videos.
You may want to start with this video which takes a closer look at John Crestani’s cringe-worthy dirty tricks to sell “make money online” courses:
You Won’t Impress Anyone
The fact that you’re trying to help people make money online will not impress anyone.
As I said, most people immediately associate the MMO niche with scams so if you think you’re going to become “the Tony Robbins of online business”; you’re in for a surprise.
In this niche, you’re guilty until proven innocent.
You have to fight your way to being half-trusted by some and while you’re hard at work trying to prove you’re legit;
You constantly need to be competing with experts around the world (with dubious morals) and a lot more accumulated skills than you.
SN: Can You Make Money In The “Make Money Online” Niche?
As you may have realized;
I’m trying to deter you from ever going (or at least starting out) in the MMO niche.
However, I do understand why people get sucked into this niche, and that is;
There’s big money to be made.
& yes; that’s true.
There’s a lot of money in the “make money online” niche but;
It does not mean you should do it.
As a wise man once told me;
Just because you can do it, doesn’t mean you should.
You’d be far better off (& you’ll make money much sooner) if you go in a completely different niche.
- It won’t be as competitive
- You’ll make progress much quicker
- It won’t be boring (if you pick something you enjoy)
- You won’t be called a “scammer” and;
- You’ll be able to genuinely help people (in a topic you actually know).
So – as someone who is in the make money online niche and someone who makes most of his income from this niche;
I would highly advise you to stay away from it.
You may want to come into this niche once you have some experiences in other niches (which is what I did) but even then;
You will still be better off never going into this niche.
Of course, this is not advice, this is just my opinion.
For all I know, you can actually become the next “Grant Cardone” of the make money online world.
(Although I doubt it).
What Niche Should You Work With Instead? (How To Choose A Niche)
OK. So I convinced you not to get into the make money online niche.
I would advise you to think of something that you know you’re good at and what you can help people with.
It doesn’t have to be “cool” or anything;
It just has to be something you know (and like).
If you’re exceptionally good at tying your shoes;
Go get started in the “shoelace” niche.
(Just making this up).
Whatever it is;
Do something that is not for the money.
(Every niche can make money, it’s just that some are better than others).
Once you have found success in the “shoelace niche”, you can then consider bringing what you know to the “make money online” niche.
Most of what you have discovered is probably already known by many, so you likely won’t impress anyone but at least;
You would not be the guy who makes money by teaching others how to make money all the while not knowing how to make money.
I also have a training course that shows you everything you need to know (and do) to make money online in a legitimate way.
It shows you;
- How to find a niche you actually enjoy
- How to build a website
- How to rank a website in Google
- How to get traffic &
- How to make money with that traffic.
& this training applies to every niche imaginable (not just the MMO niche).
If you want to make money online, don’t choose the make money online niche to do it.
Those are my “final words” today.
It’s a backward methodology to failure and I can assure you; it most likely won’t end well for you.
I’ll leave you to it.
