I am sure you’ve read hundreds of how-to guides that show you how to make money with affiliate marketing.
The problem is that many of these guides are geared towards people who want to go from zero to earning.
But what about the already-earning affiliate marketers out there?
Today, I want to show YOU how to make MORE money with your affiliate website.
NB: If you’re still brand new to affiliate marketing, then this guide is probably not for you – it’d be better if you go read my affiliate marketing starter guide here.
But, if you have a website that’s already earning money (at least $100+ a month), keep reading as I am about to show you;
- How to get more traffic to your already existing blog/website,
- How to increase your affiliate commissions,
- How to create more blog posts to get more money,
- How to use email marketing (an affiliate cash-cow many think they understand, but don’t) and;
- How to create your own products (to earn the most from your existing traffic).
Let’s get started…
Why Do You Want To Make More Money?
Of course, more money is always welcome and I am sure many of you reading this want to earn more, but why?
I personally want to grow out my portfolio of mini niche websites and use the income that they generate to invest in real estate.
This year (2019) I plan on starting 12 new small websites (one every month) to help me do this, and the reason I am telling you this is that I’m using my current earning sites to fund the content costs for these brand new websites I’m building.
This is why for the past few months I’ve been heavily focused on trying to make more money from my current websites. What I am about to show you is what I have been trying & testing to give my business a bit of an income boost to continue growing.
Enough fluffing about, let’s get to the meat of this guide;
How Can YOU Make More Money With YOUR Affiliate Website?
Obvious things first;
Get More Traffic
Yeah I know, pretty damn obvious and “easier said than done” but it’s true;
If you have a website that is currently earning you money, the obvious way to go about earning more money is by driving more traffic to your website.
But be careful.
As I’m sure you already know; not all traffic is equal so you need to get more of the right traffic to your website and not just any traffic.
Now if you’ve spent your time building up a presence on a particular social network, then you may already have an audience who’s there waiting to hear from you, you probably should be more active on it and thus drive more traffic to your website.
One site I am currently trying to increase traffic for has a solid presence on Pinterest but I wasn’t paying too much attention to it (since I’m mostly focused on SEO).
However – while I’m waiting for the new content I am publishing to get its fair place in Google, I did spend some time (not much at all) tinkering around on Pinterest and low and behold; traffic did see a respectable increase!
Now as you can see in the Analytics screenshot above, the conversion rate of a goal I’m tracking (email sign-ups) did slow down but since this website is monetized via the Amazon Associates platform, I did get to make more money with this website just from utilizing what was already there.
Do you have a social presence which can help you boost traffic and maybe also boost your site’s earnings?
See if it’s worth your time and if so; go for it.
Of course; the best traffic you can get will always be from Google so if you want to increase your traffic (and earn more with your website) you should focus on that above all else.
You can also look into updating your current existing content to perform better in Google, this often is a much quicker way to getting more traffic than publishing new content.

Look For Better-Paying Affiliate Programs
You may already have linked up with the best affiliate program in your niche, in which case; good for you but still;
Keep an eye out for other (better) affiliate programs who may be willing to pay more % for the traffic you send them.
This is not always a good idea of course and it all depends on your niche, the affiliate program and the type of traffic you are getting but to give you an example;
One of my current earners is monetized via Amazon as well (I’m a big fan of using Amazon to monetize), however;
I did find an independent affiliate program that pays a double percentage of what Amazon pays out (Amazon is not the best when it comes to %, but they do have huge brand goodwill).
This is something I am still experimenting with myself but I’m pretty sure this could lead to a boost in affiliate income at the end of the month.
Of course, you do not have to switch entirely, you can always use two (or more) affiliate program to monetize.
Just try to workout out which program offers more % for which products.
Look Into Adding Ad Banners (Seriously)
I started learning about how to make money online circa 2011, and back then; everyone was against using banner ads as a means to make money online since you needed a lot of traffic to make anything significant.
While that was very true then, since those days; digital advertising costs have gone up significantly across the board since then so you now get a whole lot more than you used to 3-5 years ago.
I have a site which gets 20,000 people a month and it makes me around $300 to $400 just from banner ads, which is quite remarkable in my opinion.
Admittedly, I’m not using Adsense though. I am using Ezoic (you need to have at least 10,000 visitors minimum before you can apply).
So yeah; banner ads can most definitely help you make more money with your affiliate site (along with your current affiliate earnings).
Create A Proper Email Newsletter
Everyone talks about how amazing email marketing is for affiliate marketers but honestly; very few people actually know to properly use an email list and make it profitable.
For a long time, I also struggled with this, I had thousands of subscribers but the list laid dormant not earning any money whatsoever.
Things started to change when I really got into learning how to tell stories, how to not be spammy, how to provide really valuable emails and how to engage with my list.
It’s not easy to do; you don’t just send out an email with a link and hope for the best.
Take your time to cultivate the relationship, put effort into it and take the time to really make it work.
Trust me; email marketing works, but only for those who know how to make a subscriber beg for more emails so they can spend money with you, which brings me to my next point…
As I said, I have been in affiliate marketing for a while now and I’m embarrassed to admit that I only learned about copywriting – and it’s magical powers – just about a year ago.
Copywriting, not to be confusing with content writing or even worse copyrighting is the art of selling with words and if you have no idea what I am talking about, then I can guarantee that if you spend the next few weeks learning about copywriting, you will easily 2X (or even 3X) your affiliate income “overnight“.
Yes; copywriting works.
From using the right words that connect to your audience, to picking punchy headlines and using the right words to make people fall in love with you and what you’re selling; all of this will help you make more money with your website.
I used to say learning how to get traffic with SEO is the best skill you can have with affiliate marketing but I was wrong; it’s copywriting.
The same copywriting principles you will be learning are the same principles that were being used to sell stuff over 100 years ago (yes using words to sell has been a proven tactic for over 100 years already).
Just look into it and thank me later.
There’s this great copywriting tips blog you can check out and/or you can check out Tej Dosa’s copywriting course that will show you how to create 6 figure promotions that will have a huge impact on your income.
Launch & Create Your Own Product
Speaking of copywriting and product launches; another insanely profitable way to make more money with your affiliate website is to create your own products.
Again, this may not be suitable for all niches, but it is for most.
Create an online course, a book guide you can sell, a recorded value-packed webinar, whatever.
Whatever it is; just create your own and keep 100% of the profits.
Even if you sell physical products, you may want to look into starting a drop shipping store, which is also something I did a long time ago switching over from sending people to Amazon to sending them to my store and keep a whole lot more profit for myself.
Whatever it is you do, as long as you have an audience, you can create and sell your own product (although I would still recommend you learn copywriting first).
Before I close this off, I’d like to leave you with a “bonus” tip and also another more “advanced” tip to help you make more money as an affiliate marketer.
Bonus: Add More Affiliate Links
- Are you sure all your posts are monetized effectively?
- Are your affiliate links working well?
- Have you placed them in appropriate positions for maximum conversions?
Personally, when starting a new website, I tend not to place affiliate links until about 6 months in when traffic really starts to take off.
Sure I might lose a sale here or there, but I just prefer it that way as I believe (not sure of it though) that not having affiliate links will help me rank better/quicker.
Due to this, I often come across blog posts which I have published a long time ago that are suddenly getting a lot of traffic but they do not have an affiliate link present (and/or they do not link to any other pages with affiliate links).
I’ve also had the unfortunate experiences of finding out that my affiliate link is broken (a 404), or that the product is not available anymore (happens more often than you think).
To make sure your site is earning up to its potential, it’d be wise to once a while go through top the traffic posts and also go through your broken links and see if you there’s something need fixing.
Just do it; it’s a quick fix and it can literally increase your affiliate earnings overnight.
Advanced: Learn Affiliate Tracking & CRO
The last tip I want to leave you with is affiliate tracking.
I’m new to this but I’ve recently been learning all about how to use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to get a better understanding of how, where and when your affiliate links are being clicked.
I can’t explain this right here as you probably understand it better with video, so check out this incredibly helpful video guide on that:
This will help you understand better how people are interacting with your links and once you have accumulated enough data, a few clear patterns start to emerge.
For example; you may notice that “reviews” get the most affiliate link clicks, so why not create more reviews?
Such data is incredible and keep in mind that a bit of “conversion rate optimization‘ can go a long way as well.
Thank you for stopping by.
I really hope this guide has helped you understand how you can make more money with your affiliate website.
If you have any questions, be sure to let me know and I’d be more than willing to help you with this.
